Dominican Republic Sets Fashion Week Oct. 13-18

The official Dominican Fashion Week, DominicanModa 2008, returns for its third year Oct. 13 to 18 at the Occidental Hotel El Embajador in Santo Domingo. This Dominican version of fashion week will include five daily runway shows from 12:30 to 10 p.m. and will showcase the work of designers from across the globe. The six-day event includes 23 runway shows, demonstrations and cocktail after-parties. This year’s fashion innovations include a dedication to South American design with presentations from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela. In addition, the DominicanModa Mall (an event exhibit) will feature companies linked to textiles, design and fashion accessories. DominicanModa 2008 will host designers including Rocio Martínez and Sully Bonnelly. The work of participating designers, including Gutiérrez-Marcano, Cynthia Avelino, Jacqueline Then, Luis Dominguez and more, will be covered by international media including Fashion TV, Collections TV of Fox Networks and more.
