Sita World Tours Honored by India Tourism Ministry
Published on: March 5, 2009
Sita World Tours was named India’s “Best Tour Operator from the Americas” by India’s Ministry of Tourism. The award was issued to Roger Mahal, chairman and CEO, and Tony Marwah, CEO of Sita’s Delhi office, at the National Awards Ceremony in New Delhi. Mahal accepted the award on behalf of the entire North American Sita team. The award was presented by the Home Minister of India, P. Chidambaram, and Ambika Soni, the Tourism and Culture Minister of India. Others present were Secretary of Tourism Sujit Banerjee and Leena Nandan, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Tourism. It is Sita’s third acceptance of the award in consecutive decades (1996/97, 2004/05 and 2008/09). “It is with great pride and honor that we receive this award and title once again, as it is a testament to our strength and consistent efforts in the promotion of travel to India,” Mahal said.
Sita offers travel through India’s exotic landscape in three distinct classes (First Class, Deluxe and Luxury). The company offers special-interest packages, including culinary tours, back water cruises, rail excursions and wildlife safaris. Sita has also expanded its product line to include value air and land packages, along with its well-known signature land tours. Sita was founded in 1933 and restructured under new ownership in 1982. The company maintains sales offices throughout the United States and Canada in order to facilitate the highest level of service for its clients. Mahal said, “As we approach our 76th anniversary, we stay focused on advancing our technologies, updating our product line and maintaining the highest of customer satisfaction and repeat business.”
Under the leadership of Mahal and the company’s president, Mok Singh, Sita will continue to focus on worldwide destinations. The annual global expansion of a unique product line such as India and Sita’s increasing number of partnerships made with various consortia and associations have played instrumental roles in the development of a successful brand for Sita. In addition to India, Sita’s itineraries take travelers to Africa and the Mediterranean, Australia and New Zealand, China and the Orient, Europe and South America.
