Ian Gittlitz Takes Leave of Absence as Travel Trade Publisher

Published on: March 31, 2009

Seth Gittlitz, owner of MSI Publications LLC, parent of Travel Trade magazine, said his father, Ian Gittlitz, has taken a leave of absence as publisher of the magazine, effective immediately. Ian Gittlitz was charged with allegedly stealing more than $2 million from ICD Publications, a Lincolnshire, Ill.-based publishing company, where he reportedly served as chief financial officer until 2007. Travel Trade was purchased in 2007. Seth Gittlitz also announced that Nick Verrastro has been appointed editor-in-chief and will take over the publisher’s bi-monthly column. “We continue to be focused on our day-to-day business, which means producing high quality travel editorial content for our readers and connecting suppliers who advertise with us with their most important audience,” said Verrastro. In his online message, Seth Gittlitz maintained that Travel Trade is not at all impacted by the recent events involving Ian Gittlitz, and added that he is proud of the support from suppliers and the agent community. He also said the company’s travel trade show would go on as scheduled, June 4 to 6 in New York.
