Expedia Eliminates Air, Hotel, Car, Cruise Fees

Published on: May 28, 2009

Expedia.com is permanently eliminating change fees and cancel fees on all hotel, car rental and cruise reservations, and on virtually all flight reservations. In addition, Expedia.com no longer charges online air booking fees. Expedia.com’s announcement that it would eliminate its air booking fees for flights booked online follows a promotion-based trial which began in March. The removal of Expedia.com change fees and cancellation fees on all hotel, car rental and cruise reservations and on nearly all flight reservations is new for Expedia.com. Some other online travel providers charge as much as $30 per person to change or cancel flight or hotel reservations booked with them. “Today we are announcing the next step in Expedia.com’s ongoing efforts to provide our travelers the greatest selection, flexibility and value available anywhere in travel,” said Tim MacDonald, general manager of Expedia.com. “Our aim is to be the single best place for people to book their travel. This is all part of our commitment at Expedia.com to put the traveler first in everything we do.” For more information, visit www.expedia.com.

Save time, save money, get a professional travel agent.Jeff, TN

Amy, everything that glitters ain't gold. Nothing beats the help of an experienced travel agent. Travelers can't call Expedia when they are in the wrong hotel room, but they can call us.Rolanda, MD

This "dropping all fees" declaration has nothing to do with the change and cancellation fees that the suppliers themselves have. It only addresses Expedia's fees, which are in addition to the suppliers' fees. John, OK
