Seychelles Tourism Board Promoting Through Website
Published on: August 7, 2009
The Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) decided in 2007 to adopt and launch www.Seychelles.travel. “As .travel is a global initiative for the travel industry, we felt it was necessary to adopt .travel,” said Karen Confait, e-marketing manager of the Seychelles Tourism Board. “We wanted to move away from the millions of ‘.com’ websites, establish ourselves as an authenticated, reputable travel website, and differentiate ourselves from our competitors. It also provided more visibility on search engines.”
The Seychelles Islands, an archipelago of 115 islands in the Western Indian Ocean, features fine beaches, national monuments, Creole architecture, golf, horse-riding, and guided nature tours of national reserves such as the legendary Valle de Mai, a UNESCO World Heritage site and marine parks. The STB’s new brand, The Seychelles Islands... Another World was launched about the same time as the Seychelles.travel website. As a supplement microsite, the STB uses www.anotherworld.travel, which highlights the 11 20-second TV commercials showcasing the natural beauty and diversity of the islands.
