Louis Cruise Lines Takes Back Majesty After NCL Charter

Published on: November 16, 2009

Louis Cruises said it took back the 1,790-passenger Louis Majesty at the end of its charter to Norwegian Cruise Line. The cruise ship was chartered to NCL and, as Norwegian Majesty, operated cruises from the U.S. until the end of October. The Majesty is on its way to Europe and will undergo routine maintenance and be refurbished with the Louis colors. Louis Cruises acquired the liner from Star Cruises in July 2008 as a step toward renewing its fleet and upgrading its product. On Dec. 4, the Louis Majesty will depart on its maiden journey. It will operate from Genoa and Marseille to destinations in the Mediterranean, the Canary Islands and North Africa. The Louis Majesty was built in 1992 and underwent a $53.3 million lengthening and full refurbishment in 1999 that added 111 feet to its eventual length of 679 feet. The ship has 731 staterooms and suites, six international cuisine restaurants, nine bars, a show lounge, a spa, a disco, a casino, six elevators, two swimming pools and a splash pool for children, three hot tubs, a kid’s corner, duty-free shops and an Internet corner. In keeping with the Louis Cruises tradition, the Majesty will sail with Greek officers and an international crew. For more information, visit www.louiscruises.com.
