Published on: December 18, 2009

The new Bach Museum at Leipzig’s Thomaskirchhof square is opening with a festival weekend of March 20 and 21, three months before the beginning of the Bach Festival and exactly on Johann Sebastian Bach’s 325th birthday. A museum with a completely new design and concept is awaiting the visitors. Multi-media and interactive elements provide a vivid impression of the composer’s life and work from various angles. One of the exhibition’s highlights will be the treasure chamber, which holds invaluable manuscripts by Johann Sebastian Bach and his sons as well as other rare exhibits. The historical Sommersaal hall with its echo chamber will finally open again for visitors, who can also enjoy wonderful concerts here. There will also be a new café with outdoor area.
