Feds Investigate Travel Academy With Name Similar to TPI Execs

Published on: February 16, 2010

Tony Gagliano Jr., vice president of Travel Planners International, would not comment on any possible links to the Galiano Career Academy, a Florida career academy offering training in travel, medicine and business that was raided by federal officials last week. The CEO of the academy is named Anthony Galiano. A local television station, WFTV, ran a story on both its website and its television program about the raid and an investigation into the possibility of financial aid fraud. The story shows the reaction of tearful students fearful of the fate of their student loans.

TPI is a 22-year-old travel business. Anthony Gagliano Sr., who is CEO of TPI, and one of his three sons, Ken, opened a travel agency in 1988. It then became a host agency. It is an Inner Circle member of Vacation.com, a premium member of ASTA, a member of the Professional Association of Travel Hosts and a member of or has business relationships with ARC, IATAN, CLIA, NACTA and OSSN.
