Abercrombie and Kent released a new comprehensive brochure that covers all its destinations worldwide in a single volume, a departure from its previous practice of publishing a number of regional brochures. The 2013 Luxury Small Group Journeys presents more than 40 itineraries, including six new programs. The brochure has a simplified Dates and Pricing chart designed to make it easy for travel agents to explain the difference between high- and low-season departures to their clients.
According to Phil Otterson, president of Abercrombie and Kent USA, “We closely analyzed what was most important to our guests: the destinations with the greatest appeal, experiences that made a lasting impression and the most-frequent wish-list requests. We distilled these into expertly curated itineraries for the most authentic and inspiring small group tours, with the comfort and service that only A&K consistently delivers worldwide.”
The company introduced some new amenities to 2013 departures, including The Travelling Bell Boy, a service that allows guests to leave their packed bags in their room when they leave a hotel and find them waiting in their room at the next hotel. A&K introduced the service in Europe and has now expanded it worldwide. In addition, the company is now including complimentary Internet in most destinations. The company is also offering what it calls Guaranteed Group Extensions, which are designed to complement select journeys, with many departures guaranteed to operate.
The company has kept its prices the same or lower than in 2012 on more than 75 percent of its programs. It guarantees the best rooms in every hotel, lodge or camp. Group sizes are limited to 18 guests on land-based programs and 24 on Family Journeys and cruises.
New itineraries for 2013 include a nine-day Zambia and Botswana Wildlife Safari priced from $5,995; a 13-day Images of Indochina and Angkor Wat from $5,995; an 11-day Myanmar’s Burmese Heritage from $6,495; a 13-day Bhutan and Nepal: Heart of the Himalaya from $7,995; a seven-day Treasures of Croatia from $4,595; and a 15-day Arctic Cruise Adventure: Polar Bear Country from $11,995.
The brochure also features 10 family journeys in its Luxury Small Group Journeys series. They are scheduled during holidays and school breaks and include mostly three-night stays to minimize packing and unpacking. They include age-appropriate activities such as scavenger hunts, cooking and craft lessons and wildlife encounters, and some feature a dedicated Children’s Activity Coordinator. A&K is also making some of its group tours available as private departures for family groups.
