AH&LA Stars of the Industry Awards Honors CH&LA Members
The American Hotel & Lodging Association’s (AH&LA) Stars of the Industry Awards recently bestowed honors on three California Hotel & Lodging Association (CH&LA) members. The Chancellor Hotel on Union Square was recognized with a Stars of the Industry Award for a Technology Innovation, the Bardessono Inn & Spa received an award for Good Earthkeeping, and Cherie Davis was recognized as the Outstanding General Manager of the Year for a Medium Property. The awards were announced during the AH&LA Summer Summit at the InterContinental Houston.
The Chancellor Hotel on Union Square qualified for the award by winning the California Hotel & Lodging Association Stars of the Industry for Technology Innovation of the Year. The property created a smartphone app to help guests make reservations, plan their visits to San Francisco and review their stays at the property, among other things.
The Bardessono Inn & Spa in Yountville was honored with a Good Earthkeeping award for a small property due to its expansive environmental initiatives. These initiatives include an underground geothermal system to heat and cool guestrooms and more than 970 solar panels that source the majority of the property’s electricity. The Bardessono Inn & Spa is also California’s first and only LEED Platinum certified hotel.
Cherie Davis, general manager of the Miyako Hybrid Hotel Torrance, won an award for Outstanding General Manager of the Year for a Medium Property. The Miyako Hybrid Hotel, which Davis opened, is ranked first with TripAdvisor in the area and is a LEED-certified hotel.
