Since the Stein Eriksen Lodge opened in Park City, Utah, in 1981 – and especially over the past 10 years – the hotel landscape in that mountain town has changed dramatically. Today, several high-end properties are located at or near Park City Mountain Resort and Deer Valley Resort, with easy access to winter sports like skiing and snowboarding, and summer activities like golf, fly-fishing, mountain biking and white-water rafting.

All of these hotels have spas, indoor and outdoor dining options, and outdoor heated pools and hot tubs. Beyond that, each has its own personality and other perks.

The Chateaux Deer Valley. The property offers a total of 141 accommodations when all suites are locked off. Located mid-mountain, it is a short walk from Silver Lake Village and on-mountain lifts.

The property has its own ambiance, distinct from that of its sister property, the Stein Eriksen Lodge. Accommodations have a rustic Italian design with features like rough-hewn beams and knotty wood plank doors. Every bedroom and living area has a fireplace. And, while suites have full kitchens, bedrooms have mini-refrigerators and microwave ovens.

Italian-inspired fare is on the menu at Cena Ristorante and a separate bar and lounge has floor-to-ceiling windows with mountain views. Guests can ride a free shuttle to Park City’s Historic Main Street.

The hotel has a mountain lodge ambiance, with wood-beamed ceilings, overstuffed leather furniture, and other cozy appointments. In addition, each suite and cottage comes with a fireplace, jetted tub, full kitchen or kitchenette and private terrace. Cottages have salt-water hot tubs on their terraces.

Dining options include Ruth’s Chris Steak House in the main building and Bandannas Bar & Grill on the golf course.

Its 35,000-square-foot, alpine-inspired Spa Montage is the largest spa in Utah.

The property’s centerpiece is the Vista Lounge & Terrace, a Great Room with comfortable furniture, pool tables, a fireplace and a menu of light bites and beverages. Among the other food-and-beverage outlets are Apex (continental), Burgers & Bourbon (gourmet burgers), Daly’s Pub & Rec (comfort food plus arcade games and bowling alley) and Yama Sushi.

A free funicular ascends from Deer Valley Resort’s base lodge area to the back entrance. Inside is J&G Grill, named for Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, who developed the regional cuisine menu.

Additional dining options include the St. Regis Bar and Lounge, the Terrace Café (winter only), The Library and the St. Regis Wine Vault (hors d’oeuvres paired with wine).
