Austin-Lehman Adventures(ALA) has agreed to acquire Go South Adventures(GSA), a Latin America travel specialist founded a decade ago by Troy Glennon. The acquisition will be effective Aug. 1. Incorporating the Go South program into ALA will expand the operator’s portfolio of South American adventures by more than 20 percent.

ALAplans to use the acquisition to create a platform for further growth of group, custom and FIT arrangements to Latin America. It is ALA’s fourth acquisition, following purchases of Backcountry Tours (2000), Euro-Bike Tours (2008) and Croatia Bicycle Tours (2010).

GSA’s Glennon will become part of the ALA staff as its Latin American expert. “By acquiring Go South Adventures, its brain trust, excellent connections and stellar reputation, we are also giving our loyal clients the opportunity to travel more extensively with Austin-Lehman Adventures in the Galapagos and mainland Ecuador, Peru, Chile, and Antarctica,” said Dan Austin, ALA’s founder and director. “The major factors making this transaction possible are existing similarities between our two companies including our joint passion for providing service and learning opportunities and 'behind the scenes' access, as well as our dedication to flawless itinerary planning.”

ALAwill continue to operate GSA’s website, but will modify it for use as a South American travel content and resource site with links to ALA’s website.
