The Bahamas’ Atlantis, the largest resort in the Caribbean and Bahamas region, is “open and operational” following Hurricane Irene and was welcoming new arrivals on Friday, Aug. 26. The resort, located on Paradise Island across from Nassau, suffered “minimal” storm damage to landscaping and clean-up efforts have been under way since Friday morning. Officials expect most facilities to be open by the end of the day.

Atlantis’ sister property, the One & Only Ocean Club, located just down the beach, sustained “slightly more disruption to the landscaping and grounds.” Cleanup at the property is expected to last through the weekend and the resort will begin accepting arrivals on Sunday, Aug. 28.
