Best Western to Add 1,700 Rooms in Nine Malaysian Cities
Best Western International is scheduled to operate 15 hotels in Malaysia by the first quarter of 2015, offering an additional 1,700 rooms across nine cities. As part of this expansion, the company recently made its Melaka debut. The Best Western Wana Riverside Hotel is located on the banks of the Melaka River and offers a mix of superior to executive rooms, meeting facilities, a sports bar and a riverside café.
Melaka dates back to 1400 and is a melting pot of Malay, Chinese, Indian and European influences that collectively reflect the essence of modern Malaysia. The historical city center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and boasts a wealth of museums and cultural attractions. These include the Maritime Museum, which has a life-sized replica of a Portuguese galleon; St. John’s Fort; and Jonker Street, which is a haven for antique hunters. Best Western is showing a more ambitious trajectory in Asia. In the first quarter of 2013, Best Western will open its first hotel in Nepal, in Kathmandu.
