Cambodia’s Knai Bang Chatt Hotel Closes for Renovation

August 09, 2012 10:20 PM

The Knai Bang Chatt hotel has closed its doors until Oct. 31 for a full renovation. The property on Cambodia’s southern coastline in the beach resort of Kep will undergo a full upgrade, extra suites, the creation of new public areas and new services in all departments. The hotel’s sailing club will remain open during the renovation period.

The restaurant and bar is a former fishermen’s house consisting of a pier and a dock that acts as a dive point and sunbathing area. Knai Bang Chatt consists of three renovated villas, containing 11 rooms, built in the 1970s by protégés of Vann Molyvann, a student of noted architect Le Corbusier. The hotel is 10 miles from the provincial town of Kampot and close to Bokor National Park, a tropical upland forest that is one of Cambodia’s largest protected areas.
