The Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA), founded in 1962, represents all facets of the Caribbean hospitality industry with more than 725 member hotels and 525 allied members. Tourism is widely recognized as a pivotal industry in the Caribbean economy and CHTA functions as the common denominator for this industry by identifying mutual problems and devising solutions. The association sponsors a number of annual events, including the annual Caribbean Travel Marketplace, which brings together hotels and resorts along with tour operators and wholesalers that provide vacation packages to Caribbean destinations.

The CHTA also established the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Education Foundation to provide scholarships and assistance for the education of Caribbean hotel industry personnel and students pursuing a career in tourism. The foundation has awarded more than $1 million in scholarships and grants.
