Carnival Cruise Lines issued a traffic alert, based on next week's Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., for passengers sailing on the Carnival Paradise Aug. 25 and Aug. 30 and the Carnival Legend on Aug. 26. Carnival said road closures and parking restrictions are expected, along with intermittent traffic delays and temporary closures on interstate roads and throughout the downtown area beginning Aug. 25 through Aug. 30. A map indicating road closures is at www.tampagov.net/rnc.

Carnival suggests passengers avoid routes through downtown Tampa and asked them to use the following detour: Take I-4 Exit 1, go south on 21st Street and turn west onto Adamo Drive, turn south onto Channelside Drive and use the Port of Tampa parking garage.

Cruise check-in is now scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The line encouraged passengers to complete online check-in prior to arriving to expedite the boarding process.

Carnival encouraged passengers to sign up for text alerts by texting the following numbers: for the Carnival Paradise Aug. 25 sailing, text CCL1 to CRUISE (278473), for Carnival Legend Aug. 26, text CCL2 to CRUISE and for Carnival Paradise Aug. 30, text CCL3 to CRUISE. Those who signed up for texts during the online check-in will automatically receive updates.
