Carnival Cruise Lines reversed the order of ports for Carnival Splendor’s Sept. 23 cruise from Long Beach, Calif., to avoid the strengthening Hurricane Miriam. The Splendor now will visit Cabo San Lucas on Sept. 25 and Puerto Vallarta on Sept. 26 for an overnight. The cruise also has three days at sea.

The National Hurricane Center said Hurricane Miriam, which was a Category 3 storm, was about 400 miles off the southern tip of Baja California. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 120 mph. Some additional strengthening was expected Sept. 24 with a gradual weakening forecast to begin on Sept. 25.
