Conde Nast Traveler Names Winners of Annual Readers' Choice Awards

Conde Nast Traveler unveiled the results of its 25th annual Readers' Choice Awards, ranking the best cities, islands, cruise lines, airlines, hotels, and resorts worldwide. A record number of 46,476 readers participated in the voting, rating 370 hotels, resorts, and cruise lines above a score of 90. In total, the readers elected 1,306 winners.
"Every year, the most discriminating travelers in the world (our readers) pick the world's superlative hotels, resorts, airlines, cruise lines, islands, and cities," said Editor in Chief Klara Glowczewska. "In its 25th incarnation this year, the Readers' Choice Awards are vaster and more compelling than ever before, featuring more than 1,300 properties and places that are truly the cream of the crop."
Qualia, a property located on Hamilton Island, Great Barrier Reef, in Australia, was named the top hotel in the world, with a perfect 100 score. Charleston, S.C. is now the favorite city in the U.S. for the second year in a row, but it is also the favorite city in the world. For the 19th year, Maui is the top island in the United States and tops in the world. The Waldorf Astoria, Chicago, took the top spot in the U.S. hotel category. New York has 10 hotels scoring above 90, including The Peninsula, Trump International Hotel & Tower and the Four Seasons.
Top 10 hotels in the world are Qualia, Hamilton Island Great Barrier Reef Australia; Taj Exotica Resort & Spa, Maldives; Lodge at Kauri Cliffs, Northland, New Zealand; Hotel Caesar Augustus, Capri, Italy; Palazzo Sasso (now Palazzo Avino), Ravello, Italy; Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve, Kruger National Park, South Africa; Peninsula House, Las Terrenas, Samana, Dominican Republic; La Villa Gallici, Aix-en-Provence, France; Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora; and Perivolas, Santorini, Greece.
The top cruise line selected by Conde Nast Traveler readers is Crystal Cruises, while the top river cruise line is Grand Circle Line. The top small ship line is Seabourn, followed by Regent Seven Seas, Silversea, Lindblad Expeditions and SeaDream Yacht Club. Top midsize line is Crystal Cruises, followed by Regent Seven Seas, Oceania Cruises, Azamara Club Cruises, Cunard, Holland America, Celebrity, Princess, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line. Top large-ship line is Disney Cruise Line, followed by Celebrity Cruises, Princes Cruises, Royal Caribbean and Carnival. Top river cruise line is Grand Circle Travel, followed by Uniworld Boutique River Cruises, Viking River Cruises, Avalon Waterways and AmaWaterways.
The top foreign airline is Singapore Airlines, followed by Emirates, Air New Zealand, Etihad Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Korean Air, Cathay Pacific, Asiana Airlines, ANA All Nippon Airways, and Qatar Airways.
The top domestic airline is Virgin America, followed by JetBlue Airways, Hawaii Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Frontier Airlines, Delta Air Lines, AirTran Airlines, United Airlines and American Airlines. The top small airline is OpenSkies, followed by Porter Airlines, WestJet, Volaris and Air Pacific.
