With two ships sailing from seven UK ports, Britain’s newest privately owned cruise line, Cruise & Maritime Voyages, is embarking on its fourth year of operation. The line, sailing primarily in Northern and Western Europe, offers a more leisurely and traditional home-away-from-home style of cruising, with an emphasis on personal service. In 2012, 95% of Cruise & Maritime Voyages’ guests rated the enjoyment of their cruise experience as either excellent or good. 


The line’s fleet includes the 800-passenger Marco Polo, which was purchased from Orient Lines in 2008, and has since gone through substantial refurbishments and annual dry-docks; and the 800-passenger Discovery, on charter from Voyages of Discovery after a four-month refurbishment period.  The 600-passenger Astor is the newest addition to the line with its season commencing December, 2013.  The Astor will operate twich yearly ocean voyages between the UK, Australia and South Africa.

Cruise & Maritime Voyages’ home ports are London Tilbury, London Harwich, Bristol, Liverpool, Newcastle and Hull in England; and Edinburgh Leith in Scotland. The line’s two- to 42-night itineraries (with most between six and 14 nights) include around the British Isles, Norwegian Fjords, Northern Lights, Baltic Capitals & St. Petersburg, Western Mediterranean, Eastern Mediterranean and Amazon River.The average price point is $150 per night, inclusive of port charges and taxes.  They also recently announced plans to enter the Australian cruise market with the opening of a dedicated sales office in Sydney.  

Onboard amenities include two dining halls, full-service spa and gym facilities, shopping center, West End-style entertainment productions, enrichment programs and lecture programs specific to the voyage. The Marco Polo is an adults-only ship.

Cruise & Maritime Voyages pays a travel agent commission rate of 10% on the entire cruise fare, including port charges and taxes, and doesn’t have any non-commissionable fares.
