CruiseOne and Cruises Inc. on Feb. 6 announced plans to cover deposits for their clients booking a cruise through Feb. 29 as part of the companies’ 20th and 30th anniversaries, respectively, this year. The promotion is the first of an anniversary-themed sales blitz and will be marketed to consumers with “Buy Now, Pay Later” messaging. Consumers will pay back the deposit at time of final payment.

“This is something we’ve been working on for quite some time, and we believe it really says a lot about who we are as an organization, that we are willing to invest millions of dollars on behalf of our agents and their customers,” said Dwain Wall, senior vice president and general manager of CruiseOne and Cruises Inc., which are retail travel networks part of World Travel Holdings (WTH). “This specific offer gives our agents a distinct competitive advantage, eliminating potential obstacles in the booking process.”

The advanced deposit will be capped at $500 per cabin. The offer is not applicable on group bookings, river cruises or land vacations. It is combinable with most cruise line sales, including military rates, but may not be combined with restricted/non-refundable cruise line promotions. Travel must be booked at least 100 days before departure and fulfilled by Dec. 31, 2012.

This is just another nail in travel agents coffin. How can you compete with that and the cruise lines allow it. We are near extinction guys! this company is why there are occupy movements all over the place.
