Cunard has confirmed that it accidentally sent personal passenger booking information to an undetermined number of other guests by email on June 22. “No passport details were contained in the e-mail. We contacted all affected guests and re-issued new booking references,” Cunard said in a statement.

Cunard did not detail what was included, but Cruise Critic, a consumer website, heard of the data breach from a posting on its message board. A Cruise Critic story said the email from Cunard contained 1,225 names, booking reference numbers and email addresses. “We apologize for this error and would like to reassure guests that the issue was dealt with swiftly,” Cunard said. “Our first priority is the protection and safeguarding of our guests’ information, and we are taking steps to ensure that this could not happen again.”
