Devil’s Pool at Victoria Falls Now Open to Swimmers

August 16, 2012 10:16 PM

Visitors to Africa’s Victoria Falls now have the opportunity to dive in and swim in the Devil’s Pool, a still pool that forms at the lip of the falls on the Zambian side, in between roaring currents on either side. People can now enter the pool from Livingstone Island through a concession managed by the nearby Tongabezi Lodge and stand overlooking the mighty rush of water from the top.

The concession at Livingstone Island that provides access to the Devil’s Pool is managed by Tongabezi Lodge and can be booked through the hotels and lodges in Livingstone and Victoria Falls. Tongabezi voluntarily gives 10 percent of the Livingstone Island revenue to education projects in the Mukuni area, which have been used to build three teacher’s houses, and the fund has enough to build two more.
