Airport car rental reservations for the Christmas holiday are up more than 11 percent over last year for all three Enterprise Holdings car rental brands -- Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rentals and Alamo Rent A Car. Enterprise Holdings’ portfolio of brands hit a new record this year for combined airport market share at 34.4 percent, up more than six points since the company’s 2007 acquisition of the Alamo and National brands.

In the local car rental market, Christmas week reservations are up more than 20 percent. The Enterprise Rent-A-Car neighborhood network includes more than 5,000 offices located within 15 miles of 90 percent of the U.S. population -- almost twice as many locations as its nearest U.S. competitor.

Automobiles remain the preferred choice of transportation for 2011-12 year-end holiday travelers, as nearly 27 percent of the total U.S. population will hit the road.
