Hilton Hotels Loses Control of Brand’s Only Property in Paris
Hilton Hotels & Resorts is no longer operating its only Paris property, the 500-room Hilton Arc de Triomphe, after a court decision to strip Hilton of its rights to manage the property, which had been part of the international hotel brand’s portfolio since 2004.
Property owner Société Immobilière et Hôtelière du Parc Monceau had complained that Hilton had “changed commercial strategy, leading to serious breaches of its obligations.” SIHPM accused Hilton of having under-exploited the potential of the hotel, which it believed should be a five-star establishment instead of four, according to the company's lawyer, Maurice Lantourne.
The Hilton brand will be removed from the hotel over the course of the next three months. The hotel’s owner is also claiming 60 million euros in damages.
