Maine’s Hidden Pond Offers New Fall Culinary Packages

August 20, 2012 10:30 PM

Hidden Pond, a resort in Kennebunkport, Maine, this fall will offer four packages with hands-on cooking lessons, including two sessions with James Beard Award-winner Chef Ken Oringer. Hidden Pond’s new “Farm to Vine Culinary Series” packages include two nights’ accommodations, a cooking class, and two dinners -- a prix-fixe seasonal menu at sister-property The Tides Beach Club and a chef’s table meal at Earth, an on-site open-air restaurant.

Earth opened last year in collaboration with Oringer, offering a menu featuring vegetables and herbs picked from Hidden Pond’s on-site 800-square-foot organic garden, along with freshly caught seafood and meats from local purveyors.

On Sept. 12 and Oct. 17, Oringer will lead the classes on making paella, house-made chorizo and oven-roasted meats. Italian specialties will be the focus of the culinary series slated for Sept. 26, while the Oct. 2 session will focus on beer tasting. Package rates start at $607 per person for two nights’ accommodation in a bungalow cottage at Hidden Pond, cooking class, dinner at Earth and dinner at The Tides Beach Club.
