Montana’s Big Sky Resort to Offer Lone Peak Expedition
Montana’s Big Sky Resort will offer its Lone Peak Expedition, a guided tour up the mountain via lift, safari vehicle and the Lone Peak Tram during the summer months this year. The expedition has been offered during the winter months since 1996, but is just now being opened to summer guests.
The trip takes guests to the top of the 11,166-foot Lone Peak for skiing and 360-degree views that take in three states from a point 18 miles from Yellowstone National Park. Big Sky Resort bills itself as the Basecamp to Yellowstone. The property also has its own Yellowstone Conference Center.
The resort offers summer activities such as zip-lining to downhill mountain biking. The Lone Peak Expedition is offered in four daily departures. It begins in Big Sky’s Basecamp building in the Mountain Village followed by ride up the Swift Current chairlift to a meeting point where a guide will take them in a safari vehicle to the base of the Lone Peak Tram. There clients board the Lone Peak Tram and ride to the top of Lone Peak. The Lone Peak Expedition is a two-hour plus experience priced at $75 per person. For more information, call 406-995-5769.
