Several airlines serving the Caribbean are expanding their flights to the region this summer. The new service includes United Airlines' seasonal, Saturday-only flights between the Turks & Caicos' Providenciales International Airport and Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport, which launched June 6.

The new United Airlines fights supplement the airline's eight weekly flights between Newark International Airport and Providenciales. "The new Houston route will undoubtedly expand connectivity to the destination and make the Turks and Caicos more accessible and attractive to potential visitors from the Southwest and Western regions of the United States," said Ralph Higgs, the Turks & Caicos' director of tourism.

American Airlines has also launched a new series of Caribbean flights. Last week the carrier commenced flights from Miami to Barranquilla on Colombia's Caribbean coast, and also launched four weekly flights between Miami and Martinique departing Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. Beginning July 2, American's Martinique flights will expand from four to six times weekly.

American last week launched began offering Saturday flights between Dallas-Fort Worth and Grand Cayman, and also inaugurated Saturday and Sunday flights between Los Angeles and Belize City.

Continuing its expansion across the Caribbean, JetBlue Airways will launch twice-weekly flights between Grenada's Maurice Bishop International Airport and New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport. Last week Delta Airlines inaugurated service between Atlanta and Grenada.
