With NFL star Russell Wilson extending his partnership with Alaska Airlines, the carrier is set to debut a trio of new television ads on Tuesday starring the Super Bowl champion quarterback.
The SeaTac-based airline announced Tuesday that Wilson will continue to serve as the carrier's Chief Football Officer for the next five years.
In a statement, Wilson said his "goal is to build strong, long-term partnerships with really great companies and people."
"Alaska and I have so much in common, and I couldn't be happier to continue this great relationship with my hometown airline," he added.
The three commercials, titled "Canoe," "Wood Carving" and "Drum Circle," are scheduled to air during the Seahawks' season opener Sunday as well. The ads, which can be viewed on Alaska Airlines' blog as well as the airline's officials YouTube channel, will each follow the same theme — "Alaska Airlines Company Retreat" — and feature real-life Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air employees.
"Russell Wilson and Alaska Airlines go together like Seattle and 'hometown airline.' As Seattle's quarterback, he's an inspirational leader for our employees and for Seattle football fans across our route network," Alaska Airlines' Senior Vice President of Communications and External Relations Joe Sprague said in a statement. "We can't wait to cheer him on this football season and for many years to come."
In addition to the new ads, Wilson's extended partnership with Alaska Airlines will include discounted flights to the Seahawks' road games this season, various promotions for Alaska Airlines customers and additionial support for Strong Against Cancer and the Russell Wilson Passing Academy.
In his current role as Chief Football Officer, Wilson works alongside the airline in support of the aforementioned programs.
