What was supposed to be a nine-hour flight from Dubai to the Philippines turned into an 18-hour journey filled with both joyous and anxious moments for passengers aboard a recent Cebu Pacific Air flight.
However, the extended flight turned out to be worthwhile as passengers got a front row seat to a once-in-a-lifetime event when a woman unexpectedly gave birth mid-flight.
Passenger Missy Berberabe Umandal documented the unique experience in a lengthy Facebook post Sunday.
"Had the most 'NORMAL' flight ever with Cebu Pacific Air," a sarcastic Umandal wrote. "A woman near our seat gave birth to a healthy baby girl, on our flight from Dubai back to PH."
"We had to do an emergency landing in India to ensure the baby's safety."
Umandal said the pregnant mother began experiencing contractions five hours into the flight despite being due to give birth in October.

Fortunately, there was a pair of nurses among the passengers, Umandal said, and the woman was eventually transported to the front of the plane where the baby was born. Incredibly, afterward, the woman returned to her seat with the newborn.
"It was immediately decided that an emergency landing in India was necessary to ensure the baby's health, as it was born 2 months earlier than expected," Umandal wrote.
While undoubtedly miraculous, perhaps the coolest part of this story is the newborn will receive free flights on Cebu Pacific Air for life, according to Umandal. "Since she was born in a Cebu Pac plane, she gets FREE TRAVELS FOR A LIFETIME with the airline," she wrote.
The Philippine low-cost airline has yet to confirm Umandal's report. But we can only hope it's true for the sake of this happy ending.
