Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport kicked off the 2015-16 National Football League season with its first-ever tailgate party Thursday, setting a Guinness World Record along the way.
The record claimed was for the "Most Signatures On a Piece of Sports Memorabilia," and was broken at Dallas/Fort Worth Airport’s Terminal A when 702 patrons signed an enormous customized inflatable football, beating the previous record of 516 signatures.
A Guinness World Records official was on-site to judge and witness the record-breaking attempt.
The tailgate party and record-breaking attempt were held in front of the Dallas Cowboys Club, a new dining venue in Terminal A that offers travelers an upscale experience featuring Texas-inspired cuisine and a modern design.
Dallas/Fort Worth Airport senior vice president Mazhar Butt released a statement about the tailgate parties and the facility setting a world record:
“We pride ourselves in offering passengers a fun, unique and memorable experience while traveling through DFW Airport. Our tailgate party to kick off this year's football season, combined with the rare opportunity to be part of breaking a Guinness World Records title, is another example of our commitment to providing a unique and interactive customer experience.”
For travelers making their way through Texas, a stop at Dallas/Fort Worth Airport’s Terminal A will give them a taste of the renovations made to the area in order to make it feel like a true tailgate party.
Besides all of the common items found at a typical tailgate, Dallas/Fort Worth Airport has added the Pepsi Pre-Flight Drills interactive running back football challenge game, which allows passengers waiting for their flights a chance to show off their skills and win prizes.
