Iceland’s ATC Latest to Strike
Iceland’s air traffic controllers are asking for a major raise in order to halt their current strike action. The ATC workers want a 60 percent raise or they will continue with their damaging work stoppage.

Southwest Flash Sale Runs Through Tomorrow
Southwest Airlines is in the midst of a flash sale, which runs through June 9. Fare deals include $49 from San Francisco to LA and $79 from New York to Chicago.

Brexit Could Undo Gulf Carriers’ European Ambitions
Gulf carriers are worried about the possibility of Great Britain leaving the EU. Etihad CEO James Hogan has warned that people could simply stay home and not fly at all if Britain leaves the European Union. The carriers are especially worried about business travel falling off. 

Delta Announces Plans for Another Scotland Service
Just a short time after starting New York to Edinburgh flights, Delta has announced plans to double its service to Scotland by starting New York to Glasgow flights. The route will see its first flight on May 26, 2017.


Despite making some positive strides towards cutting wait times, the TSA is still urging people to come to the airport prepared this summer. At Syracuse Hancock Airport, for example, the security agency has made special announcements asking people to wear slip on shoes and avoid putting things like large tubes of toothpaste in their carry-on luggage. 

XL Airways France has started three-times-per-week flights between Paris and Los Angeles. The route is already served by Air Tahiti Nui and Air France, and Norwegian will launch service this summer.   

After ending negotiations without a deal last week, United Airlines and its flight attendants have agreed to extend contract talks. The two sides will attempt to iron out the details of a new contract ahead of a final mediation session in two weeks time.   

Southwest Airlines has added nine new flights from Oakland International, including a second daily flight to Baltimore and a new flight to Saint Louis.
