First-Ever US Airport Terminal 7-Eleven Coming to LAX

Travelers waiting for a flight out of Los Angeles International Airport this summer will soon be able to help pass the time with a Slurpee or Big Gulp.

This week, the Dallas-based chain announced that it will open a 7-Eleven in a U.S. airport terminal for the first time ever on June 24.

The new convenience store — which will be open to passengers from 6 a.m. to midnight daily — will be located in the pre-security arrivals level of the airport's Tom Bradley International Terminal.

Just like any other 7-Eleven you've been to, the LAX location will offer food and beverage as well as personal care products that include travel-sized items and over-the-counter medicine. Newspapers and magazines will also be available for purchase at the 950-square-foot store.

"With a post-security environment that rivals some of the world's best airports in design, dining, retail, and amenities, we are pleased to begin debuting the next phase of the new Tom Bradley International Terminal within the pre-security area," said Keith Kaplan, vice president of development for Westfield, the company developing the location.

"We are confident this 7-Eleven concept will enhance the experience of arriving travelers, the throngs of people who wait to meet and greet them and thousands of LAX employees," added Kaplan.

Customers can expect to find the usual 7-Eleven food offerings like pizza, wings, chicken tenders, and nachos. However, the 10-inch Dodger Dog typically reserved for baseball fans at Dodger Stadium will also be available for $2.11.

Travelers passing through the terminal can also wet their whistle with a variety of drink offerings, including coffee, tea, smoothies, and energy drinks.

Norm Hower, the brand's zone leader for the greater Los Angeles area, said, "just as with every 7-Eleven, we customize and cross-check each store's product mix to offer what our customers want."

"Travelers and those in the travel industry have needs for products you might not find at a neighborhood 7-Eleven," added Hower. "Whether they are arriving at their final destination or in the middle of a work shift, we look forward to serving the thousands who come through Tom Bradley International Terminal every day."

LS Travel retail North America will operate the new LAX 7-Eleven location, which will host a four-hour grand opening ceremony from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. local time on June 24.
