JetBlue Flight Attendant Arrested for Carrying Brass Knuckles
Airlines are always heavily scrutinizing passengers for the items they attempt to bring on an airplane, but it was a flight attendant who was arrested last week when authorities found brass knuckles in his carry-on bag.
According to the Palm Beach Post, JetBlue flight attendant Andy Williams Lora, 39, of Little Elm, Texas, was arrested on Wednesday, June 11, at Palm Beach International Airport in West Palm Beach, Fla..
Transportation Security Administration agents searched the man’s bag and found the brass knuckles after seeing the item appear on the X-ray machine. Lora denied putting the weapon into his bag and reportedly claimed he had no idea what purpose the brass knuckles served.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the discovery and arrested Lora, charging him with carrying a concealed weapon. He was released from police custody later the same day.
While Lora claimed the brass knuckles were not his and he didn’t know how they got into his carry-on luggage, he admits that he was the one who packed his bags and that no one else had access to the bag once it was packed.
This isn’t the first serious black eye for flight attendants on JetBlue. A flight attendant admitted to authorities that she had smuggled heroin from Colombia to Florida in 2014.
