Two of the Caribbean’s largest carriers cemented an agreement that will further expand airline service to and within the region. JetBlue Airways and Seaborne Airlines announced a codeshare marketing agreement this week that will offer travelers increased access to scheduled flights bound for lesser-served Caribbean destinations.

Tuesday’s agreement utilizes the airlines’ common hub in San Juan. JetBlue is the leading carrier by flights and seats at the city’s Luis Munoz Marin International Airport, while Seaborne, which is based in San Juan, is the Caribbean’s largest regional carrier.

The airlines offer a combined 50 daily flights connecting to 22 destinations. Seaborne’s network will offer JetBlue customers new links to Anguilla, Dominica, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Nevis, St. Kitts, and Tortola. Seaborne will also provide JetBlue clients with expanded access to the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Dominican Republic.

“Providing improved connectivity in our common hub of San Juan will add tremendous value to Caribbean residents, visitors, and businesses," said Gary Foss, Seaborne’s president and CEO.

"Our codeshare agreement with Seaborne makes traveling to the Caribbean easier than ever," said Scott Laurence, JetBlue’s senior vice president of airline planning, who called the agreement, “a win-win partnership for customers and tourism."

“This new codeshare marketing relationship ... facilitates the entrance of more visitors and positively impacts the economic development in the island,” said Ingrid I. Rivera Rocafort, executive director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company.

JetBlue and Seaborne are both codeshare partners of American Airlines; Seaborne also holds interline connecting agreements with Delta Air Lines and United Airlines.
