Like many country music superstars, Miranda Lambert seems like a salt-of-the-earth, unpretentious, pragmatic kind of celebrity.
So when airline travel handed her a setback on Thursday night while flying to Las Vegas for the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards on Sunday night, April 2, Lambert took it all in stride.
Diverted from Las Vegas to Laughlin, Nev., by bad weather, Lambert and her traveling party made the snap decision to go to the rental car counter and drive the 90 minutes from Laughlin to Sin City.
With a quick stop at the liquor store.
Lambert set up a mobile bar in the car – with a designated driver – for the trip.
The singer chronicled the adventure on her Instagram account, which showed a picture of her smiling as she opens a bottle of wine just outside the rental car.
"Y'all....@ACMawards or bust! Storms diverted our plane to Laughlin Nevada. So... Rent a car set up the bar!! Vegas here we come,” Lambert wrote, adding the hashtags #highwayvagabonds #wheelsandwhiskey #fenderbender #vanjam #90'scountry #bartenderinanotherlife.
Lambert is performing on Sunday night’s live show and is up for six awards, including Album of the Year, Single of the Year, Song of the Year and Video of the Year.
