As Boston Globe op-ed columnist Dante Ramos and his partner flew from Houston to Boston on Monday, they experienced a hairy ordeal in the skies.

During the flight, a woman sitting in front of Ramos’ partner flung her long ponytail over the back of her seat and onto the in-flight entertainment screen, almost touching his open tray table, CNN reported.

Ramos’ partner, Ryan, stood up and got the attention of the ponytail’s owner, he wrote in a column that was published Wednesday.

Later on, Ramos posted a picture he had taken of the ponytail and posted it to Twitter, saying “Congrats ... You've invented a whole new way to be awful at 35,000 feet."

The tweet quickly went viral.

In his column about the incident, Ramos said, “As I write these words, it’s been retweeted more than 7,700 times.”

From that viral post, Ramos said in his column that he received positive and negative feedback. But one of his favorite comments was on Reddit, where someone posted, “Weave been hijacked.”
