Flying out of Qatar's Hamad International Airport is about to get a whole lot more expensive.
The Associated Press reported the Doha-based airport will soon add a $10 fee for all departing passengers, including those catching connecting flights, following a decision over the weekend.
While likely to irk frequent flyers passing through Hamad International Airport, the fee is hardly a new concept, with Dubai International Airport and Sharjah International Airport adding similar fees recently.

The fee at Hamad International Airport will be tacked onto tickets beginning Dec. 1. Only children under the age of two who are without a seat will be excluded from the charge.
The new fee is aimed at boosting revenue for Qatar amid slumping oil prices that have negatively affected the economy. According to the AP, the money brought in from the new fee will also allow the airport to increase capacity and invest in important infrastructure and technology.
