An Alaska Airlines flight en route from Sacramento to San Diego made an emergency landing at Modesto City County airport early Sunday morning. The flight landed at 6:50 a.m. after the flight deck received a warning that there was a fire in the cargo area.
Airport manager Mark Germanowski said there were 58 passengers and four crew members on boad, according to a tweet by Linda Mumma, the Modesto Bureau Chief for Sacramento television station, KCRA-TV.
None of the passengers were injured during the incident and all were later placed on a back to Sacramento.
KCRA also reports that there were no signs of fire when the plane landed, although the Modesto Fire Department said the fire extinguisher system had been activated.
