South African Airways is the winner of the Skytrax award for Best Airline in Africa for the 13th consecutive year.
SAA was also awarded for the Best Airline Staff in Africa. It was the fourth time the airline received that award. The award honors both the on-board crew as well as the airport customer service staff.
SAA’s low-cost carrier Mango was awarded Best Low-Cost Airline in Africa.
Skytrax awards are based on a consumer satisfaction survey of 18 million air travelers in 160 countries and involving more than 200 airlines. Skytrax is an independent aviation research organization.
Skytrax’s online survey is open to passengers for a 10-month period.
It rates performance of 41 areas of airline service and operations, including check-in, boarding, on-board service, seat comfort, cabin cleanliness, food and beverage and in-flight entertainment.
“It is a distinguished honor to, once again, receive these awards,” said Marc Cavaliere, SAA’s executive vice president for North America. “We are committed to excellence and strongly believe that an outstanding customer experience is what makes a great airline. SAA is proud to be the only Skytrax four-star airline flying between the U.S. and Africa, and we are pleased that travelers recognize us as the best way to travel to Africa.”
