Travelers are always looking for a way to kill a little time in the airport while waiting for their flight or their luggage, and two airports in Sweden have added retro video games that accept coins of all currencies.

The best part of the video games is that all the money it collects goes to the Swedish Red Cross.

According to Karla Cripps of, visitors who pass through Stockholm Arlanda and Goteborg Landvetter airports in Sweden will have the opportunity to play some of the games you had when you were a kid, including "Ms. Pac-Man," "Space Invaders" and "Galaga."

When asked about why the Swedish airports incorporated such an interesting concept, Swedavia marketing director Michael Persson Gripkow told

“The Charity Arcades is a way for us to emphasize our partnership with the Swedish Red Cross in a creative and inspiring way. The travelers get a fun retro experience at the airport and at the same time they have the opportunity to contribute to the important work of the Red Cross.”

This is a genius idea on several different levels. First, accepting all forms of change makes it an easy way to allow people from all walks of life to donate. While visitors may have felt out of place donating foreign currency before, these video games help bridge all gaps.

Add in the fact that the video game machines provided are retro classics that will transport even the most stuck-up travelers back to a nostalgic period in their lives, and this is an idea that should pick up steam across the world.
