PHOTO: New York's LaGuardia Airport has grown drab and dingy, and VP Joe Biden was quick to point that out.
Vice-President Joe Biden did what he does best on Thursday - be Joe Biden.
Always ready with an opinion, an ill-timed remark or a malapropism, Biden said in a speech in Philadelphia that walking into New York's LaGuardia Airport was like walking "in some third-world country," the New York Daily News reported.
"If I blindfolded someone and took them at 2:00 in the morning into the airport in Hong Kong and said 'where do you think you are,' they'd say, 'this must be America, it's a modern airport,'" Biden said during a speech on infrastructure. "But if I blindfolded you and took you to LaGuardia Airport in New York, you must think, 'I must be in some third world country.' I'm not joking."
Either Biden's comments will cost him some votes in 2016 - he recently said he sees "no reason not to run" for the Democratic nomination for President in two years - or New Yorkers will nod their heads in agreement.
"Why did we lead the world economically for so long? We had the most modern infrastructure in the world," said Biden, who was speaking at an event celebrating Amtrak's newest train engine.
New York Gov. Andrwe Cuomo said last month the state would take over an ambitious $3 billion project to make over LGA's main terminal.
