There was something of a shock in Great Britain's advertising agency world last year when Virgin Atlantic moved its global ad business from its longtime shop, RKCR/Y&R, to Adam & Eve/DDB.
With it came the end of a focus on the airline's sexy flight attendants in favor of a polished new television ad that is aimed squarely at the lucrative business travel market.
Entitled "The Idea," the 80-second clip uses the tagline "Life doesn't come to you, so go to it" as the kicker to an ad that shows a typical business traveler starting his journey in the plush VA lounge, including getting a haircut. It then shifts to show the traveler enjoying a comfortable rest in the sleeper-seats, rested enough to craft a brilliant business pitch that wows a meeting room filled with foreign dignitaries.
The voiceover says, "An idea is only ever an idea until you make it happen."
Virgin Atlantic was just one piece of business won by Adam & Eve/DDb last year; the company was named Advertising Age's International Agency of the Year.
Here's a look at the ad.
