Mexican Baseball League fans at Kukulcan Alamo Park are enjoying a host of new stadium upgrades thanks to continued sponsorship support from Alamo Rent A Car, a value-oriented, internationally-recognized brand serving the vehicle rental needs of leisure travelers under the Enterprise Holdings umbrella.
The stadium refurbishments, unveiled on Opening Day April 3, are part of a plan to improve the in-game experience for both players and fans alike.
Changes include a new playing field of top-tier Bermuda grass, new seats with cup holders in the stands, an improved main entrance with prominent Alamo signage and the grand opening of “Alamo Concourse” – a new dining, shopping and entertainment area located near the entrance to the stadium.
The improvements mark Alamo’s second year of sponsorship support for the Yucatan Lions’ baseball stadium in Mérida, Mexico. In 2015, Alamo announced a new naming rights deal for the facility as part of the sponsorship agreement.
“The reaction from fans to our new stadium renovations has been overwhelmingly positive, but this is just the beginning,” said Juan Jose Arellano Hernandez, Partner at Alamo Mexico. “Through our sponsorship agreement, we plan to gradually introduce more improvements over the next few years for the benefit of all Lions fans.”

In addition to the enhanced facilities, Alamo is also partnering with the Yucatan State government to launch its new “Drive Safe and Drive Happy” (Maneja Seguro y Conduce Feliz) campaign – an initiative that aims to increase awareness of the dangers of drunk driving.
As part of the campaign, Alamo will have a dedicated booth in the stadium to remind fans that they don’t need to drink to have a great time at the game. The location of the booth will be posted to Alamo Mexico’s Facebook page and announced to fans at the beginning of every game. This season, the first 10 fans who make it to Alamo’s booth after the Lions score a run will receive a free raffle ticket and key chain. At the end of the season, one lucky raffle participant will win a brand new car, courtesy of the Drive Safe and Drive Happy campaign.
Beyond baseball, Alamo is also kicking off its second year of sponsorship for the Náuticos basketball team in Mazatlán, Mexico. As a sponsor, Alamo’s logo is prominently featured on the team’s uniforms and on LED signs throughout the stadium. In addition, the brand receives special recognition as the official presenter of the fourth quarter of each game.
Alamo has been the official sponsor of the Náuticos since the team debuted in 2015. In that time, the Náuticos have emerged as major contenders in the league, making it all the way to the tournament finals in just their first season of play. Alamo hopes to see the team achieve the same level of success in the 2016 season.
