Amtrak Offering Discounted Sleeping Car Rate Options for Travelers
During the summer vacation period this year, many travelers will be looking for better deals as they make their way from the northern portion of the East Coast to Florida.
Instead of flying, many tourists are looking to take a train, and Amtrak is hooking passengers up.
According to Amtrak’s official website, passengers who buy a ticket from New York City to Miami on the company’s Amtrak Silver Star sleeping cars (Trains 91 and 92) between July 1 until the end of January 2016 will have a lower-cost option.
Amtrak senior vice president and general manager, Mark Murphy, released a statement about the new options, saying, “Customers have been clear they want more options. From this summer through early next year, passengers will be able to opt for different service levels between our two daily trains to Orlando and Miami.”
Instead of combining the cost of meals into the price of the sleeping car, everything will be available separately in order to give passengers the chance to choose what fits their needs and price bracket.
Customers will be able to purchase from a menu provided by the Cafe and Lounge car featuring hot and cold sandwiches, snacks and other items. For those who liked the all-inclusive option, the full-service sleeping cars can still be found on the Amtrak Silver Meteor (Trains 97 and 98).
Regardless of which train you stay on, the sleeping car tickets come still come with complimentary coffee, water, juice, turn down service, private restrooms and access to a shower facilities.
