WHY IT RATES: This collection of data is vital for Auto Europe, because it helps them best serve customers. A prime example is North America’s substantial demand for vehicles with automatic transmissions at Europe car rental locations. - Michael Isenbek, TravelPulse Senior Editor
Auto Europe, a leading provider of international car rental services has released a study of 2016 booking data, which includes a forecast of European travel trends for the second half of 2016. The study, found here, features the top 10 most popular pickup destinations for U.S. and Canadian residents based on car rentals picked up between Jan. 1 and June 30, 2016. Our rental data from the first half of the year shows U.S. travelers picked up rental cars in Dublin the most often and most Canadian travelers elected to pick up their cars in Rome.
Also included in the findings are travel trends for July through Dec. 2016 such as the most popular pickup destinations for the second half of the year based on advanced bookings by U.S. and Canadian residents compared to last year. According to our data, U.S. and Canadians residents are electing to extend their travel itineraries in four out of the five top pick up destinations during the second half of the year.
"This year Dublin has really jumped in popularity as a rental destination for U.S. citizens," said Scott Braun, Chief Marketing Officer at Auto Europe. "Additionally, we continue to see that while manual transmission vehicles are the default rental car offering in Europe, a substantial number of North Americans are requesting automatics. To meet this need we always make special arrangements with our suppliers to set aside automatic vehicles so that we are uniquely positioned to be able to deliver what our customers demand."
