Avis Adds Voice-Activated Features to Smartphone App
Avis Car Rental announced Wednesday it is launching an improved smartphone app that features a voice-activated virtual car rental representative. Avis is the first car rental company to offer this capability.
The Avis app is available on Android devices and enables customers to make, confirm or cancel car rental reservations by using their voice. Customers who are part of the Avis Preferred loyalty program can use the app to guide them through the reservation process.
Customers with the app will notice that it speaks and displays four car classes—compact, intermediate, full-size and luxury—as well as the estimated total cost for the rental. In addition to an automated confirmation email, customers can initiate a call to customer service with the app.
"This new enhancement is another easy, convenient and fast way for the busy traveler to make, change or cancel reservations and reach customer service," said Avis Budget Group Vice President Of Consumer Marketing And Customer Relationship Management Neal Zamore. “Our new app is like having a personal car rental assistant with you around the clock. We hope our valued Avis Preferred members appreciate this added benefit.”
Avis has been at the forefront of implementing technology to make the customer’s experience easier and more enjoyable, and the company did it again with this app. Once an Avis Preferred member has their rental preferences on file, customers can access the app’s new voice-controlled features.
Not only can loyalty program members earn points for every dollar they spend on vehicle rentals, but they also can skip the counter and paperwork at many locations and go straight to their car.
