Avis Budget Group and Southwest Airlines Expand Partnership
It has been a busy week for the Avis Budget Group, Inc. as the company continues to announce extended partnerships with more airlines. This time it’s Southwest Airlines.
According to Avis, the company has struck a multi-year deal with Southwest to expand its current partnership marketing agreement. The new deal will enable Avis Budget Group to promote its three top brands—Avis Car Rental, Budget Car Rental and Payless Car Rental—and offer products, discounts and services to Southwest customers.
The agreement between Avis and Southwest includes advertising placement on the airlines’ website and merchandising placement throughout the airline reservation process. All of the Avis brands featured on airline confirmation pages and pre-trip emails to customers, and all discount offers will be available on the official Southwest site.
Southwest Airlines director Jonathan Clarkson released a statement about the agreement, saying, “This partnership is another example of Southwest Airlines' efforts to bring increased value and benefits to our customers. We enjoy working with partners such as Avis Budget Group because they help reinforce the benefits that enhance our Rapid Rewards customer's experience.”
The two companies were made for this partnership, as Southwest flies more than 100 million passengers per year and Avis provides travelers with more than 100 million vehicle rental days per year.
Earlier this week, Travel Pulse reported that Avis announced that it had agreed to a multi-year preferred partnership agreement with JetBlue. The two companies were already a partner for JetBlue's TrueBlue loyalty, but the partnership expansion was similar to that signed with Southwest.
