Avis Budget Group Partners with Rugby Canada on Multi-Year Deal
Car and truck rental service Avis Budget Group announced last week that the company had agreed on a multi-year deal with Rugby Canada to become one of the team’s primary partners moving forward.
According to an official press release from Avis Budget, the company will serve as Rugby Canada's exclusive car and truck rental service partner and will provide the national team transportation both in Canada and when the team travels internationally.
The agreement is effective immediately.
Avis Budget Group vice president, global travel and partnerships, Tom Villani, spoke in a press release about rugby fans and how the partnership will help his company:
“The rugby community includes many passionate, committed and receptive individuals who travel for business, for pleasure, or both. Collaborating with Rugby Canada will help us showcase our brands, engage this audience and drive revenue.”
The move is good news for all parties involved, and Rugby Canada chief marketing officer Mark Lemmon spoke about the partnership and how it helps the team, via a press release:
“We are extremely proud to work with Avis Budget Group. This strategic business partnership will offer Rugby Canada's national membership the benefit of first-rate service and competitive rates with Avis and Budget, while also allowing our athletes, coaches and staff to dedicate more resources towards our on-field performance.”
The agreement with Rugby Canada is not just for the men’s teams, either. The Avis Budget Group is also supporting women’s rugby, including the Canada Women's Sevens. The round-robin tournament will take place over two days (April 18 and 19) at Westhills Stadium in Langford, B.C.
The event will feature Canada’s women’s team—as well as the Avis Budget sponsorship—and 11 other national squads squaring off in the inaugural tournament.
With the Avis Group getting a chance to advertise its Avis Car Rental, Budget Car Rental and Budget Truck Rental brands and Rugby Canada getting the backing it needs to continue being successful, this partnership should flourish during the course of the deal.
