Avis Car Rental Opens Several New Facilities in Asia
The car rental industry is growing internationally, and it is Avis Car Rental that made the latest move by announcing Monday that the company would continue its expansion by opening several new facilities in Asia.
According to the Avis Budget Group, the car rental brand will be opening new branches in China, Hong Kong, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan, while expanding its pick-up location service in Indonesia with four additional locations.
Avis opened its first Asian location in Hong Kong in 1970, and 45 years later the company owns more than 300 locations in 20 countries on the continent. Luckily for travelers, the new branches will be located near transportation hubs or within hotels at popular tourism destinations.
Some of the new locations include:
- China, in the heart of Clearwater Bay town center and Boao in Hainan;
- Hong Kong, in Centre Point on Gloucester Road in Wan Chai;
- Laos - in the center of Ban Phonsavangtay in Savannakhet;
- Malaysia, at the Holiday Inn Melaka in Malaysia;
- Singapore, at the Orchard Hotel on Orchard Road in Singapore;
- Taiwan, at the Accor Novotel in Taipei and at the Banqiao and Taichung train stations.
As for the additional locations in Indonesia, Avis has opened branches at Hang Nadim International Airport, Batam Center Point Ferry Terminal, Harbour Bay Ferry Terminal and Sekupang International Ferry Terminal.
Avis Budget Group president Larry De Shon released a statement about the addition of more facilities in Asia, saying, “Expanding our network continues to be a key part of our global strategic plan. The new facilities and pick-up locations will better position us to serve customers' needs and to drive sustained, profitable growth across the region and at some the world's busiest travel destinations.”
For Avis, the continued expansion into Asia is part of the company’s impressive growth to around 5,450 locations in more than 165 countries.
